RHYTHMIC MOVEMENT TRAINING
Rhythmic Movement Training International or RMTi is a movement based therapy that checks for retained primitive reflexes and prescribes rhythmical, repetitive movements that help build neural pathways. Reflexes are natural, automatic movements that are with us from the womb. They have a purpose, and that is to protect us and to enable us to survive as human beings. They are unconscious movements in that we don't think about the movement before doing it. We don't think about breathing or blinking, a baby doesn't think before taking that first gulp of air and crying as soon as it is born.
There are many reflexes, some, if retained, and don't do their job, can cause blocks in our development.
In my clinic, I work with my clients, choosing developmental movements and gentle isometric pressure to stimulate neural pathways, in children or adults. I work to promote learning and emotional balance. It can assist with anxiety, ADD, ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, PTSD, speech and language delays, cerebal palsy, and depression....and without medication. Treating the cause not the symptom.
Remember: Move, Learn, that's the natural order

Exercise and Sound in Education, EASIE, is a movement therapy for children of 3-7 years. This is, as the name suggests, both auditory and movement based to engage a younger child in a group session. This course is designed to help the child become classroom ready. This is available to play groups, pre-school, and infant classes.
Scientists have determined that it takes approximately 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain, unless it is done with play, in which case it takes around 20 repetitions.
Dr Karyn Purvis
A bootcamp for children with anxiety and SEN. These are, at present, run locally. They are non judgemental, not competitive and parents must stay. Each activity is designed primarily to be fun but also chosen for its developmental qualities.
WORK IN SCHOOLS
It is important for schools that they have the support for their pupils who are struggling in and outside of the classroom. The time span that we have to help a child before their confidence is effected is short so it is imperative that the problem is addressed as soon as possible.
I can offer:-
- Working within the school with an individual pupil who is struggling. A movement plan will be designed, I will work with the child and show a member of the SENCO team how to do the movements on the child. These as always will be easy, relaxing and simple to do.
- Working with a group of pupils who are struggling within the school. I will work with the SENCO and pupils.
- Offering support and guidance to the teaching staff on how to keep their pupils alert by a movement programme that they can use during the lessons.
- A bespoke service can be offerred, tailored to the schools needs.
